Warming up with static stretching is dead. Static lengthening of a muscle or muscle group prior to working creates confusion for the nervous system, rendering it sluggish and unable to function appropriately. Add to this muscle weakness, and instability and the athlete is at the mercy of the movement.

So how should you warm-up? Recent advances have pointed to movement. The healthy expression of joint function has been called mobility. With the proper movement patterns the joints that stabilize can do their work while the points that need mobility work can perform their function. It might be easiest to define mobility as active flexibility.

The purpose of WARM-UP MOVES is to provide a top to bottom inventory of pre-training movement preparation.
